Periodontal Treatment & Management of "Gum Disease"

Gum disease is one of the most common diseases in America — as much as 80% of the population struggles with some form of it.

§ Procedure

In the practice's own words.

Two forms are identified: gingivitis (mild) and periodontitis (advanced). Untreated cases can result in tooth loss in adults.

Warning Signs

  • Gums that bleed when you brush
  • Red, swollen, or sensitive gums
  • Receding gums
  • Loose teeth
  • Pockets between teeth and gums
  • Persistent bad breath

Cause & Treatment

Gum disease is caused by a combination of bacteria and plaque.

Smoking creates a strong correlation with periodontal disease.

The primary therapy is scaling and root planning, or 'deep cleaning' — performed by our dental hygienists. Antibiotics are used as an adjunctive treatment, and advanced cases are referred to a specialist.

§ The practice's promise

Impeccable quality, great service. Treatment decisions come from the dentist-owner — not corporate management focused on margins.
