Practice History
Our dental practice was founded in 1929 by Dr. Emerson Stott, one of the earliest dentists to establish a dental practice on Galveston Island. For nearly a century, the practice has maintained a distinguished history and has been entrusted to several highly respected and accomplished dentists throughout the years.
In 2015, Dr. Magruder assumed ownership of the practice, continuing the tradition of excellence and commitment to patient care that has defined the practice since its founding.
Over the course of nearly 100 years, the practice has had the privilege of caring for multiple generations of Galveston families, including many of the island's most prominent and respected residents. This remarkable continuity is a testament to the practice's longstanding reputation, deep roots in the Galveston community, and enduring commitment to providing exceptional dental care.
The office occupies two adjoined historic homes which were built in the 1870's and served as guest houses to the historic Menard House — regarded as the oldest and first home built on the island.
Several major hurricanes, and a million fillings later, here the buildings still stand.

We partner with a small private dental lab instead of commercial labs, despite the higher cost, because smaller labs deliver the same high quality, with care.
