A practice with deep roots in the island community of Galveston, Texas.
In-house orthodontic care led by a board-certified specialist.
Comprehensive general and preventative care for every member of the family.
Cosmetic procedures — whitening, bonding, veneers — designed with care.
Our practice was founded by Dr. Emerson Stott in 1929 and was one of the first Dental practices established on Galveston Island. Since then, the practice has been serving some of Galveston and Galveston County's finest residents.
The office occupies two adjoined historic homes which were built in the 1870's and served as guest houses to the historic Menard House — regarded as the oldest and first home built on the island.
Several major hurricanes, and a million fillings later, here the buildings still stand.
The homes provide a very unique, comfortable, and cozy feeling — a setting for nearly a century of careful work on Galveston smiles.

What we choose to do — and what we choose not to do — every day, for nearly a century.
We use only the highest quality zirconia, porcelain, and gold for crowns. Most last over twenty years — versus under ten at offices that cut corners on materials.
Dr. Magruder is the owner of this office. Unlike corporate chains, our patients see the same dentist consistently — not rotating providers under quarterly profit targets.
Complex cases go to specialists rather than being attempted in-house. This prevents failures that can compromise a patient's Dental health for life.
We partner with a small private dental lab instead of commercial labs, despite the higher cost, because smaller labs deliver the same high quality, with care.
Insurance companies have for decades exercised more and more influence on a Doctor's ability to deliver quality treatment — leading competitors to use cheaper materials and rush appointments. We don't.
Treatment decisions come from the dentist-owner, not corporate management focused on margins. The result is care that's actually right for you.
